Wholesale cannabis prices for outdoor grown flower in Colorado saw a significant drop this week, losing 14.6% per pound. Changes to the Average Market Rate (AMR) used for determining taxes are driving the surge in low price, large volume outdoor grown flower deals. Operations can now purchase large lots of “Bud Allocated for Extraction” with nearly 25% less taxes levied compared to the previous several quarters’ tax rates. Outdoor flower cultivators are in-turn relaxing prices for flower destined for dispensaries, driving the price assessment down. The sharp movement in outdoor flower pricing also drove the Colorado Cannabis Spot Index to an all-time low.
Market participants in Michigan continue to battle with severely depressed wholesale pricing conditions, although there was positive movement for indoor grown and outdoor grown flower pricing this week, leading to the state composite price climbing 9.8% per pound. Transactions for bulk flower provided the lift in price assessment movement across the grow types.
The Montana Cannabis Spot Index increased 5.4% per pound this week. Positive indoor grown and greenhouse grown flower price movement were the main drivers of the state composite price increase. As in other markets, bulk flower transactions saw an increase in prices while prepackaged flower transaction prices fell.
